Loving someone vs. Being "in love"
Loving someone is an act of giving and can be tiring at times. Being "in love" seems selfish to me as it gives so much to oneself. When you are in love, you are inspired and energized by the person and it is rare and unearthly. It is a true gift from God, who is love.

I agree with what you say that real love is not a selfish thing and that it is in giving one's self to another completely -and- being able to accept the same from them I think. Is it equally important to accept the gift of love? I think there are many facets to love and in some ways it reflects the character of those who share it. I would think that a love that two share might be as different in form as the people who create it.
I think that love is the most powerful emotion that people can experience and it is often not understood. It is like becoming a drug addict all of the sudden at age 12-18 and on top of that, the drug is readily available, and in fact is used to promote products from toothpaste to politics. Beyond that the nature and extent of what is involved in this on the emotional and spiritual level -is- and always will be beyond literal explanation. For those people who have little experience with Artificial Intelligence or other advanced topics, let me explain. Some things that a exist can be characterized as systems that branch to infinity. Just try this yourself, what is 60 factorial, and -really- understand what 10 to the 12th power factorial means.
I read that post and now I feel stupid reading it. I am going to quit speculating on this, because I was making the same mistake that many people do, which is confusing desire with love. Obviously a person can love their family and people can love god and they can love a person without ever having a physical relationship. I guess that serves my point about physical love however, I could go on like this forever posting a new aspect and never be done.
Interestingly enough this does show some aspects of this issue.
